In March 2001, Zhongshan Weiershun Paint Co., Ltd (formerly Weiershun Paint Factory, Nantou, Zhongshan) first sampled and submitted Weiershun solar reflective coating to the China National Test Center of Polymer and Building Materials for inspection under the standards of Q/W26A-97 and GB/T9755-2001 (the national standard for composite resin latex outdoor wall paint, China), together with the test for solar reflectivity. Each criterion was met and exceeded, including the solar reflectance of 0.92.

Weiershun solar reflective coatings have the highest solar reflectivity among the energy-efficient coatings all over the world. Before Weiershun solar reflective coating underwent the national inspection in March 2001, China had not had any coating from any coatings manufacturer undergone the national inspection concerning the solar reflectivity; therefore, Weiershun solar reflective paints are all named with the prefix “Q/W26” in honor of Weiershun’s influences of establishing the concept of solar reflective coatings.
